Peace Bridge Expansion Project

As primary environmental consultant, E & E is leading the team of international experts preparing the EIS for the proposed Peace Bridge Expansion Project, which connects New York State and Canada.  The high-profile,  sensitive project includes involvement by BFEPBA; the City of Buffalo; the Town of Fort Erie; the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT); the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA); the US Department of Homeland Security Customs and Border Protection; and a wide variety of other federal, state, and local cooperating agencies, public interest groups and organizations, and concerned citizens.

The project involves the construction of a companion bridge located adjacent to numerous historic properties included, or eligible for inclusion, in the National Register of Historic Places.  E & E assisted with the Section 106 compliance process, participated in Section 106 consulting party meetings, NEPA scoping meetings, DEIS public comment meetings, and planning charrettes for the project.  We conducted cultural resources investigations to identify cultural resources and historic properties within the APE as part of the Section 106 compliance process and prepared the EIS as part of NEPA process, documenting cultural resources and historic properties present within the APE, impacts of the project on these resources and properties, and summarizing the Section 106 impacts and mitigation measures for a finding of Adverse Effect.
