Oil and Gas

The need to incorporate environmental and social considerations into the planning, design, construction, and operation of oil and gas development has become increasingly important throughout the world.  Through its multidisciplinary capabilities and worldwide network of affiliates, E & E offers a full range of environmental capabilities to industries and institutions seeking to develop sustainable oil and gas resources and other regulatory support.

Projects

British Gas Trinidad and Tobago (BGT&T), Trinidad and Tobago
Worked with BGT&T to integrate biodiversity in the planning of its current and future activities.  Incorporated Conservation International’s Energy and Biodiversity Guidelines on the integration of biodiversity into the ESIA process and on good practice in the prevention and mitigation of primary and secondary biodiversity impacts.

Corocoro Oil Development Project, ConocoPhillips Venezuela, Central America
Provided comprehensive safety, health, environmental, and sustainable development services and stakeholder consultation/NGO partnering support for nearshore oil development in the Gulf of Paria. Staffed project from our local Venezuelan office as well as US corporate resources to strategically respond to client's specific needs, both in Venezuela and internationally.

Lake Oologoh Oil Spills, Rogers and Nowata Counties, Oklahoma
Designed a management information system using Microsoft Access software and created a project-specific removal action Web page accessible through EPA's Web site.   Designed an aerial, photographic assessment using color infrared technology and conducted an aerial survey of the site area, which reduced the labor-intensive, ground-truthing effort.

Rainforest "Canopy Bridge" Project, Edén Yuturi Oil Field, Ecuador
Provided environmental services in support of Occidental Petroleum Corporation’s development of the Edén Yuturi Oil Field.  Services included assisting with the development of experimental “canopy bridges” to provide pathways of migration.

Comments from past clients

"[E & E] certainly lived up to their reputation.  They were responsive to our needs as well as those of the lead agencies. … [The EQAP] covered a broad spectrum of environmental areas and had never been done before in Santa Barbara County. It not only was … approved by the County, but was held by the County as an example for other project sponsors to follow." —Susan Callister, Chevron Overseas Petroleum Company

The Institute of Petroleum, in association with Woods Mackenzie, awarded E & E, Walsh Environmental, and Occidental Petroleum the first-place Environment Award for Excellence in the Oil & Gas Industry for their innovative, sustainable efforts regarding the Rainforest "Canopy Bridge" Project in Ecuador’s Edén Yuturi Oil Field.

The BGT&T group working the Central Block project received the corporate Chairman's Highly Commended Award for its environmental initiative in "Integrating Biodiversity Early" in the project. BGT&T's Health, Safety, Security and Environment Manager acknowledged E & E's contribution: "I wish to take this opportunity to thank ... [our consultants including] Ecology and Environment, all helping to make this Biodiversity Initiative a true success."
