South Miami-Dade County Watershed Study

E & E supported South Florida Regional Planning Council (SFRPC) in its development of a comprehensive land use plan to guide urban and regional population growth to appropriate land areas while sustaining the natural resources in south Miami-Dade County for the next 50 years.  For this project, E & E was the key environmental consultant on a technical review committee comprising nationally recognized experts in smart growth development, fiscal and development impact analysis, and ecological economics.

The major elements of the Miami-Dade County Comprehensive Development Master Plan involve sustaining and restoring the environment, sustaining economically viable agriculture, providing flood protection, and supplying drinking water and other water required for projected land uses.  E & E documented baseline conditions; formulated three land use scenarios; identified socioeconomic, water resource, and environmental impacts; participated in the public involvement program; and helped formulate plan implementation strategies involving master plan amendment.
